On August 30, 2022, in order to simplify drone policy under the SCOMET List, The DGFT proposed a draft amendment to the General authorization of exports of "5B unmanned aerial vehicles" and specific types of UAVs (excluding software and technology) in the SCOMET list and has invited public and industry comments on this.
Among them, the draft amendment lists the procedures for granting General Authorization (GAED) for the export of UAVs, including issuing the scope of UAVs to which GAED applies; Exporters are required to submit periodic reports on items exported/re-exported under GAED; Record keeping of export documents; Fact sheet on not issuing GAED; The validity period of the GAED and the circumstances for suspending/withdrawing the GAED.
